A Special Day
This week I attended the wedding of one of my best friends. It was actually the first wedding I have ever been to. I was not sure what to expect, not to mention it was a small-scale event of only about twenty people or so. The wedding was fun, and my friend looked very satisfied.
My friend is from Okayama, but her husband was born in the States. His family, however, is Japanese. So, the wedding was a mix of English and Japanese despite majority of the guests being Japanese. The wedding was split into a ceremony and a lunch / reception. The lunch was a full course meal and we got very full, very quickly. I was surprised it was all over by the afternoon. In my mind, I expected a wedding to be a whole day event.
You might be surprised I never had the chance to attend a wedding until now. To be honest, I am too. At the wedding some of the other guests had also never or had very few experiences themselves. As I am about to enter a new decade of my own life, maybe this was just a peek into what my own future has coming for me….
