Setsubun - 節分
Setsubun was yesterday. Traditionally, families buy roasted soybeans and throw them at a “demon” in the house, while chanting, “Demon get out! Good luck come in!”. And people usually eat the same number of beans as their age for good luck. A demon did attack NEO yesterday, but the heroic children pelted it with beans and it ran away. Thanks for saving NEO!
More recently, people also eat a sushi roll on Setsubun. The roll should be uncut and eaten silently while facing the “lucky direction” of the year. This year’s lucky direction was North by Northwest.
