Olympics Abroad
Recently, the 2020 Olympics came to a close. This was my second time watching the summer Olympics while living in Japan. One of the things I have noticed is how different the Olympics feels to watch on T.V outside of my home country. Besides the language difference, the biggest difference is the kind of events that get the spotlight on T.V broadcasts. Here in Japan, sports such as judo, table tennis, and gymnastics are often shown due to Japan’s high skill in these events. While back home, our broadcasts focus on events such as boat rowing or cycling. Some events however such as swimming, or the 100m sprint are popular no matter where you live.
None the less, I found myself cheering on Japan more than my home country.
