Roof repair and painting

Recently, NEO’s roof was leaking a little bit of water into the walls. We discovered that the roof was very old and cracked and covered with dirt. There were also some plants growing up there!

We thought about hiring a professional to clean, repair and paint the roof, but it was probably going to cost over 500,000 yen. So, I decided to do it myself. I bought about 150,000 yen in supplies and the project took a lot of time for me to finish alone.

First, I cleaned all of the dirt from the roof. Then I cleaned the drains. Next, I used a powerwasher to clean the concrete. After that, I fixed all of the cracks. I filled in some low areas with 40 kg of concrete. Finally I applied 2 kinds of sealant and two coats of waterproof paint.

I hope this paint will last for 7-10 years…
